 :: The Story

Bobby Child dreams of a life on the Broadway stage but can't seem to even get an audition before Hungarian impressario Bela Zangler. His mother is keen for him to take a more active role in the family banking business and his fiancee Irene is just keen on a quick wedding. Mother sends him to Nevada to forclose on a property in one last attempt to make him give up his unrealistic daydreaming.

The property concerned turns out to be a theatre in Deadrock, belonging to Everett Baker. A theatre which for twenty years has been serving as a post office for the deadbeat community of cowboys. Saloon owner Lank Hawkins has designs on the theatre, into which he wishes to expand his hotel business, but Everett won't sell as the theatre was where his late wife performed and he is a sentimental type. Lank also has designs on Everett's Daughter Polly (unsurprisingly as she is the only woman within 50 miles of Deadrock) but she is not interested in him.

When Bobby arrives in town he immediately falls for Polly, but when she finds out he has come to town to close the theatre she rejects him. He resolves to win her heart by saving the theatre by posing as Bela Zangler and calling in the help of his friends, the chorus girls from the follies who are on holiday. They arrive and the deception appears to be going well but when the time for the show comes, the only visitors are an eccentric English pair who have not even come to see the show, but to review the Hotel/Saloon for a guide book. Things get even worse when the real Zangler shows up looking for his girls and Bobby's fiancee shows up looking for blood.

Will love triumph............come and see!
